Our story
Ancient practice,
held to a modern standard.
Ankurith began with a simple frustration: the practice of Jal Neti is thousands of years old, yet most people were still doing it with whatever salt happened to be in the kitchen.
A product made for one job
Table salt is a brilliant thing — in food. It is iodised because our diets need iodine, it is treated with anti-caking agents so it pours freely, and it is ground for the tongue rather than the nasal lining. None of that helps when it is dissolved in warm water and passed through your sinuses every morning.
So we made a salt that does one job. Non-iodised. No anti-caking agents, no fillers, no preservatives, no fragrance. Milled fine enough to disappear into lukewarm water in seconds, and balanced with sodium bicarbonate so the solution stays soft instead of stinging.
Two ingredients, in a ratio that has been worked out rather than guessed at: 4.3 g of sodium chloride and 0.7 g of sodium bicarbonate in every 5 g serving. A measured scoop in every jar, so you get the same rinse on day sixty as you did on day one.
What Ankurith stands for
Purity you can verify
A short ingredient list printed plainly on the label, with nothing hidden behind the words "and other agents". Lab tested, and vegetarian.
Respect for the tradition
Jal Neti is one of the six shatkarmas of Hatha Yoga. We treat it as a practice to be taught properly, not a gimmick to be sold — which is why a full guide comes free with every jar.
Honest claims
Nasal irrigation supports comfort and hygiene. It is not a cure, and we will never write that it is. We would rather you trusted the label than were impressed by it.
Made in India
Rooted where the practice began
Ankurith is an Indian brand, made in India, for a practice that India gave the world. The name comes from ankur — a sprout, a beginning, the first green thing that pushes through.
The lotus in our mark is the same one that sits on every jar and every pot. Ankurith® is a registered trademark.
