The practice

What Jal Neti kriya does

Jal Neti is one of the six classical shatkarma cleansing practices of Hatha Yoga. Warm saline water is poured into one nostril and allowed to flow out of the other, carrying with it the dust and mucus that collect through an ordinary day.

It takes about five minutes, needs nothing more than a pot and the right salt, and has been practised in India for centuries — long before anyone measured the air quality.

Complete the ritual

Pot and salt, made for each other

01

The right measure

One 5 g scoop of Ankurith Jal Neti Salt in 500 ml of lukewarm water — a full pot, correctly balanced, with no guesswork.

02

The right water

Always boiled-and-cooled, distilled or sterile water. This is the one rule of nasal irrigation that is never worth bending.

03

The right rhythm

Mornings, on an empty stomach, before pranayama. Start two or three times a week and build from there.

Everything the practice needs

Get the pot and the salt together, and start your mornings with a clear breath.
